Memorial Day Celebrated in Stromsburg

Memorial Day services were moved to the Legion Club. VSO Ken Toline gave the address. He spoke about Memorial Day to the military is about lost lives defending our nation and their selfless desire to serve.

Tour Nebraska Comes to Stromsburg

Tour Nebraska featuring over 440 classic vehicles will be coming through Stromsburg on Sunday, June 1 at about 7:20 AM.They will be in two groups, about 15 minutes apart and will leave Holthus Convention Center at 7 AM that day.

Swedish Festival

Plans for the Stromsburg Swedish Midsommar Festival are made and posters printed. The popular yellow booklet with details of the schedule of events are available. There may be a few additions, which will be posted to the website, but it is very close to final.

Ostkaka Classes

Ostkaka classes will be taught on Saturday, June 7th at 10 AM. Plan on the class taking a little over one hour as the process of both beginning a new batch and putting the first bach in the oven is taught.

Festival Road Race

ROAD RACE Sign up for the Earl “Helge” Byleen Road Race at Swedish Festival. Paper forms are available at the banks and NapaAuto Parts. You can sign up online or download a form from theswedishfestival.com Forms are due by June 4th to receive a t-shirt.

Monday evening the Stromsburg Woman’s Club enjoyed an interesting program given by Kathryn Larson of Aurora on Swedish painting known as KURBITS. Kathryn shared examples of the different forms of the artwork and explained the meanings of the designs and regions where they originated.
