Hard to believe that 2025 has come and gone. So much has transpired in the last 365 days. Of course, some days are good, some bad. Sounds like life, doesn’t it?I will start out with a little trivia for the month of January.

UNK Announces Fall Deans’ List

KEARNEY – The University of Nebraska at Kearney announced students who earned a place on the dean’s list for the fall 2024 semester.Students who are on the dean’s list must have completed 12 credit hours or more of classes with a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale. Students earn a 4.

Hastings College Announces Fall Dean’s List

HASTINGS – Hastings College has announced the Dean’s List for its fall 2024 semester. For the semester, 352 students from 22 states and 11 countries were named to the Dean’s List.To be eligible for the Dean’s List, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.7 to 4.

New Laws Go Into Effect Jan. 1

NEBRASKA - New laws go into effect as of January 1st. The main ones that affect most people are minimum wage going up and data privacy law.Minimum wage is going up by $1.50 per year until 2026, and after that an increase that is equal to an annual cost of living increase.

Roberts One of State Finalists for Cheer/Dance

The Osceola Cheer and Dance Team (OCDT) is proud to celebrate Janna Roberts, a senior at Osceola High School, for her outstanding achievements through the Heartland Championships.

LADY COUGARS WIN 3RD CONSECUTIVE RUNZA HOLIDAY CHAMPIONSHIP

CENTRAL CITY- In a rematch of December 21st at Cross County, the girls took on Central City to try to avenge their only loss. Avenge it they did, and won their 3rd consecutive Runza Holiday tournament championship with a score of 31-29.
