Christmas Lights Reminder

Reminder- please remove your Christmas lights from the square! Signs may be returned to Heritage Bank or hang onto them yourselves. All lights and Christmas decor that may be reached without a bucket truck must be removed for the summer season please!

With drawer number four nearly done, the halfway point of indexing the Phil Nyberg obituary collection is in sight (1,714 and counting), and it’s time for another update. Just ahead will be the Larsons, Petersons and Olsons. The Andersons and Johnsons are “in the book” as are the Carlsons.

Cramer Selected for Girls’ State

STROMSBURG - Ava Cramer of Stromsburg has been selected to attend American Legion Auxiliary Cornhusker Girls’ State from June 2-8, 2024, on the campus of the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

Veteran Memorial Coming & Pool Staff Selected

STROMSBURG -At Monday’s city council meeting, the Sons of the Legion proposed a memorial for veterans on the west side of the square in Stromsburg. The 30foot by 50-foot memorial would list the 371 names of the veterans who have passed away, and have room for about 110 more.

Swedish Festival

Festival plans are moving forward very well. Of course, there is always need for more helpers, but the parade has a new committee and all the entertainment is finalized. Anyone interested in attending the next planning meeting is welcome.

CC Robotics Compete at US Open

Two Cross County open robotics teams competed at US Open in Council Bluffs from March 21-23: 5155K (Cannen Mooney, Braeden Phan and Kirk Sparrow) and 5155T (Colton Duncan and Matthew Frazier). Skills were on Thursday; 5155T was 16th in skills and 5155K was third in skills and received an award.
