Construction Plans Underway

Our local county, cities and villages are making plans for their 1- and 6-year street plans. This has to do with construction in each area. The county will meet February 27th to discuss their plans. The City of Stromsburg met Monday evening to discuss theirs.

STORM WINS DISTRICTS

This year the three wrestling teams were at three different districts. Shelby-Rising City was at home, hosting district D2 while High Plains traveled to Pleasanton for D3. In class C, Cross County- Osceola traveled to Hebron for C1. Two girls made it to district 3 held at Aurora.

Osceola Starts Journalism

To offer a wider variety of English language arts electives, journalism is now an option to the students of OHS, led by teacher, Allie Ray. Made up of six students, the class writes the for the monthly newsletter.

Crisis on the Horizon for Nursing Homes

Rural nursing home facilities are closing at a rapid rate across Nebraska. There are several reasons, including limited staffing, the rising cost of goods and services, and inadequate funding.

Suits and Sneakers

The Osceola Cheer and Dance has raised over $2,300 for Sammy’s Superheroes Foundation in the last two years with your help. This year, the OCDT is teaming up with the SRC Cheer and Dance Team to raise money for this foundation that is near and dear to both teams’ hearts.

QoV Work Day

Stars, Stripes, and Stitches QoV group will be working at the Shelby Legion Post 296 from 9am-3pm on Saturday, February 10, 2023. Please join us for all or part of the day.

FFA Pancake Feed

The Shelby-Rising City FFAwill host a pancake feed on Sunday, February 25th from 10AM to 1 PM at the Shelby Legion club. Serving pancakes, sausage, juice or coffee for a free will donation.

Senior Center

Tuesday February 13th at 1:00 PM Mrs Hyde’s 3rd, 4th and 5th graders from Shelby-Rising City elementary school will be performing at the Senior Center. We invite all parents, grandparents great-grandparents and friends to attend and support the children.

HPC Career Fair

HPC is hosting a career fair on Tuesday, February 13th from 12:25-2:30 p.m. Following the fair, students will be engaged in wellness activities and presentations from 2:30 - 3:40 p.m. All of these activities are at the Polk site.
