As a child, getting a new box of crayons in preparation for the new school year was a big thing. As soon as I got home from shopping, I would eagerly open up my box of 16 or 24, carefully lay the crayons out on a table, and marvel at their shiny sharp points.

Rare lake sturgeon made 681-mile swim

Fisheries biologists for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission were collecting paddlefish for a study this spring when a large and rare fish for Nebraska showed up in the net.A 70-pound lake sturgeon was pulled from the Missouri River at Gavins Point Dam on April 14.
