Fall Prevention

Nathan Olson, physical therapist with Annie Jeffrey Memorial Hospital will be at the Shelby Senior Center on Wednesday, December 6th at 12:30 PM. He will be speaking on preventing falls. Come join us to learn how to stay sure-footed and confident as the weather brings ice, snow and slick surfaces.

Santa Claus Coming to Town

The Shelby Community Library is having Santa Claus on Tuesday, December 5th, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Do not forget to bring your camera! This will be a great opportunity to take your Christmas card photos by the fireplace. FREE REFRESHMENTS will be served.

Blood Pressure

Clinics to monitor blood pressure will also be held each Tuesday of the month. They will be held at the Senior Center and rotate between each town in Polk County.

Centennial School will not hold classes November 22nd through November 24th. Classes will resume Monday, November 27th. Gresham Community Club Director’s meeting will be Monday, November 27th, at 7 p.m. at the Community Center.

Showing Thanks This Thanksgiving

Someone observed, “When you see all the Christmas decorations going up, soon we’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving.” By now, you’re planning Thanksgiving activities which can be special to the folks you love and care about! Thanksgiving makes me think of an occurrence in the New Testament.

Devotional Reflections by Caroline Russell Just outside the back door of the farmhouse where I grew up was a large “cat pan”. It was there my mom would conveniently dispose of table scraps, as well as any leftovers past their prime. She knew that sooner or later our cats or dog would show up to eat.

Booster Club Prepares for Chili Cookoff

Did you know it is almost Chili Cook time? Let us do the cooking and the dishes while we’re at it on December 15th during the Annual Booster Club Chili Cook Off. We will serve out at the school between 5-7:00 p.m.
