Solar Project Needs Name

PCRPPD, in collaboration with the City of Stromsburg, has a one-megawatt solar installation that will go live later this fall. We need your help naming the project. Please submit your project name suggestions to your electric provider by August 25th.

Game and Parks Confirm Mountain Lion Sighting

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is aware a mountain lion was spotted again July 28 in southwest Omaha. The mountain lion was documented on video near I-80 and Mockingbird Drive. Authorities from the Omaha Police Department and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission are monitoring the area.

Johnson Reunion

The Carl Gustaf Johnson family picnic will be held this Saturday, August 5th, with a potluck picnic starting at 12:30 p.m. Please bring your own table service. We will be in the wooden pavilion on the north side of Buckley Park in Stromsburg.

Pedicure Clinic

Pedicure clinics will be held at the Polk County Health Department the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month. Please call the health department at 402-747-2211 to make an appointment.

Local Kids Beat the Heat at the Pool

You’d think she’d be used to it by now. The monotony of the simple drive lulls her busy mind into her ‘to-do’list as she instinctively turns off 81 and onto Ninth Street.

Ostmeyer Named Outstanding Alumni

Columbus – Marci Ostmeyer of Osceola has been selected as the 2023 Outstanding Alumni Award recipient from Central Community College-Columbus.

Special Event at Gathering Grounds

On Thursday, August 10th, GG will be hosting Michelle Chamberlain and her ‘Cornerstones’ from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Michelle was set-up in the town square for the Swedish Festival where Annette and Steve first met her.
