Local Musician Schoch is Top 5 in Battle of the Bands at State Fair

New to the Nebraska State Fair this year is “The Fairest Showdown: Battle of the Bands”. Bands submitted a cover song and an original song. The public and a panel of judges narrowed the applicants down to the five finalists. Jordan Schoch Music is one of the five finalists.

Welcome Back From Superintendent Tejkl

Welcome back! I hope that everyone had a fantastic summer break, and it still amazes me how fast the time goes. Having three young boys (ages 9, 7 and 4), I am in the early stages of running around attending events, coaching, and just living life with the adjustments that come.

Car Show

There will be a car show on August 16 during the farmer’s market. The event is sponsored by Midwest Street RodAssocation East Central Chapter For questions, call Clayton Hoadley at 402-276-9235.

Next QOV Work Day in September

Stars, Stripes,and Stitches QoV group will NOT be meeting in August as previously planned due to a scheduling conflict. The next work day will be September 9 at the Shelby Legion. If you are willing and able to help with hand-stitching binding, please let Joelle know. Her email is Stars. Stripes.

Farmers’ Markets

Shelby Farmers’ Market Wednesday Evenings 6:00-8:00 p.m. from July 12-August 16 Come enjoy live music, food, and a variety of local vendors selling baked goods, clothing, home decor, accessories, and much more! All vendors welcome. No vendor fee or reservation necessary.

Girl Scout Troop Holds Product Drive

Girl Scout Troop 58826 in Shelby is having a product drive for the Shelby Senior Center. Items needed include coffee, paper towels, packaged gravy, plastic cutlery (knives, forks and spoons) and monetary donations.

Romshek Signs with Benedictine College

Grady Romshek, a graduate of Aquinas Catholic, recently signed to wrestle at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. Romshek won the Class D 106 weight class state championship last February. Romshek is from Shelby, and formerly attended Shelby-Rising City Public School.

Pool Fundraiser

Barn quilt painting with Jacki Ryba will be Saturday, August 5th at 9:30 a.m. Registration is due by July 29th with a fee of $60. This is hosted by the Shelby Community Library. There is a limit of 14 people, so register soon to save your place.
