Book Club to Meet on Feb. 27 at Library

The book club will meet at the Osceola Public Library on Feb. 25 at 5 p.m. The next book the group is reading and discussing is Regretting You by Colleen Hoover. If you can’t make the February meeting, start reading for March. The group will be reading and discussing The Lioness by Chris Bohjalian.

• Monthly Senior Dinner will be Monday, Feb. 6, at noon at the community center. • Monthly Village Board meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. at the village office. • Gresham Softball sign up deadline is March 1.

Speech Team Finds Success at Competition

High Plains speech teams competed at the Ardys Dunsmoor Memorial Speech Invite in Hampton on Saturday. Results include: Wesley Wostrel finished first in Extemporaneous. Nathan Ertzner finished first in Entertainment. Kyleigh Farley finished first in Persuasive.

Former Polk Resident Stars in Grand Island Show

GRAND ISLAND — A former Polk resident is set to participate in the Grand Island Little Theater February Show. Amy Hanquist Harris will portray Myra Bruhl in “Deathrap” by Ira Levin. The show opens Feb. 10 and runs Feb. 10-11 and 17-18 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 12 and 19 at 2 p.m.

One advantage that I have is the availability I have to library books!! What a great treasure to have!! Last Friday night, before I left the library, I checked out several books. With the anticipated extreme cold weather, I was stocked up for a weekend in my apartment!

February is here, finally. This may be the shortest month in the year, but I think it goes on for a long time probably because by now I am ready for Spring--trees leafing out, planting a garden and warm weather.

Fischer Introduces Bill to Block Green New Deal Mandates

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a senior member of the SenateArmed Services Committee, joined 16 of her Republican colleagues this week in introducing the Focus on the Mission Act (S.27). The legislation would prohibit the U.S.
