Polk Senior Center

Several from the community enjoyed coffee and rolls and a presentation by the High Plains school at the Senior Center on Monday. Superintendent Kim Beran and Grade school principal Brea Holgoth and students Roberta Hines and Mario Lesiak gave us information about what is going on in our school.

Motorists Urged to Use Caution to Avoid Collisions With Deer

Deer are more active this time of the fall. Crops are being harvested and deer breeding season is in full swing. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has suggestions to help drivers avoid deer-vehicle accidents and lessen the risk of injury or vehicle damage.

Get a Flu Shot in October

The Polk County Health Department will be giving flu shots in the senior/community centers at the following locations. Please REGISTER for an appointment at the location of your choice. Bring your Medicare card.

Immunization Clinics Nov. 9, 21

The Polk County Health Department will hold immunization clinics at the Polk County Health Department in Osceola on Wednesday, November 9th from 3:30 to 5:30 and Monday, November 21st from 3:30 to 5:30. An appointment is required for compliance to the COVID-19 directives.

Pedicure Clinic

Pedicure clinics will be held at the Polk County Health Department the 1st Wednesday morning and 3rd Wednesday afternoon of every month. Please call the health department at 402-747-2211 to make an appointment.

Candidate Forum Held in Stromsburg

The Polk County Patriots hosted a candidate forum on Tuesday, October 11th. Many local candidates came to present, and talk with local voters. Approximately 40 people attended.

Osceola Spooktacular

Jeffrey Elementary Book Club Needs Your Help

Friends and family, we’d love your help again with something for our Preschool - 5th Graders this school year. One of our favorite memories from grade school was looking through and ordering from Scholastic Book Club (Let’s be real, we STILL enjoy it.
The Polk County Slammers made the rounds at all three high schools on Tuesday for pep rallies ahead of the teams first trip to the Class C State Tournament. Cross County, High Plains and Osceola high schools each canceled school on Wednesday and encouraged students to make the trip to Hastings to support their team.
