Polk Senior Center News

Fall has arrived and October is a busy month at the center. We’ve been having a great turn out for our “Healthier You” exercise group led by Sue Daley and Avis Blase. This meets every Monday and Wednesday at 9:30 AM. All are welcome. October 31: County pool at 1:30 PM at Polk.

OCAG Meeting The Osceola Community Action Group will hold their October meeting on Thursday, October 27th at the Osceola Civic Center at 12:30 p.m. Membership is open to individuals and businesses interested in our community.

Mental Illness Awareness

Each year, millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental health condition. During the month of October, we take time for mental illness awareness. A mental illness is a condition that affects a person’s thinking, feeling or mood.

Carl Johnson Named Fan of the Week

Carl Johnson welcomed special visitors (including his great-grandson Jackson) when a few of the Cross County football players presented him with a new Cross County Cougars t-shirt as MCH’s Fan of the Week. Carl graduated from Stromsburg High School in 1948.

Red Ribbon Week Returns

POLK — Red Ribbon Week returns next week at High Plains Community Schools. Monday:  Red Day. HPC students pledge to be drug-free and bully-free. Wear red to support the pledge. Tuesday: Team Up Against Drugs. Wear your favorite sports team shirt or jersey.
