Osceola Q150 Kicks Off with a Delightful Play

Sunday, June 26th Osceola kicked off their 150th celebration with two presentations of a play titled “Radio T. B. S.” (Trailer Park Broadcasting Scandals). The slogan was Welcome to Luna Del Mar, manufactured home oasis and monkey empire, “There’s nothing wrong with being mediocre!

Nearly 70 people were in attendance at the Stromsburg Cemetery to honor William H. Fetters, a Civil War veteran. Fetters died May 19, 1947 at the age of 102. ABOVE: The honor guard, wearing Civil War era uniforms, remembers Fetters with a 21-gun salute.

Schools Out for Summer, But Staffs Remain Busy

School may be out for the summer, but there still is plenty of action taking place at schools all across the nation and Polk County is no different. From school maintenance to summer camps, meals or teachers working to improve ahead of the next school year, schools are staying busy.

Gresham Library

Gresham Library will have summer reading on Saturdays in June and July. Summer reading will include story hour, crafts, guest speakers, science experiments, prizes and more! This is open to all ages of children.

Sunday afternoon Fathers Day visitors of Randy and Susie Tonniges were Brandon and Lindsey Tonniges and Dillon and Gradyan. Tom & Judi Luettel enjoyed a road trip to Ceresco Sunday afternoon. Sunday lunch guests of Kent and Linda Tonniges were Bob and Adelle Tonniges. They celebrated Fathers Day.

Polk’s July 1st Celebration

Polk will have a celebration on July 1st filled with food, fun and fireworks. Bounce houses for kids from 5:30-9 p.m. Water games at 6 p.m. Food served from 6-8:30 p.m. with a free will donation. Fireworks will begin at 10 p.m. Bring your own lawn chair. A fundraiser for fireworks will be a raffle.
