Don’t forget the birthday party on Friday at 1:30 p.m. You can come play cards, dominos or pool and have refreshments too. Next week begins with the county pool tourney here on Monday at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday is the blood pressure clinic from 9:30-11:30 a.m. with cards in the afternoon.

MOVIE MATINEES We will be having Free Children’s Movie Matinees on Tuesdays June 28th, July 5th and July 12th at 10 a.m. Movies are rated PG and will last about one and one-half hours. Free popcorn and bottled water will be served during the movie.

Family Diner Reopens in Osceola

Andrea’s Family Diner is now located at 425 Hawkeye St., in Osceola, a new location after suffering a complete loss from a fire in March. Andrea is still serving the best chicken in Polk County, along with her lactose free soft serve ice cream that is available in eight flavors.

Commissioners Approve 2023 Mountain Lion Season

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved staff recommendations for 2023 mountain lion season at its June 17 meeting in Lexington. Commissioners approved a mountain lion season in the Pine Ridge similar to 2022, with a maximum harvest of four cats, with a sublimit of two females.

Early Facts And Dates Pertaining To Osceola

In the month of May, 1872, William H. Waters built the first frame store in the town, and also the county, stocking it with general merchandise. The following October, Hon. John Mickey and Hon. William F. Kimmel each built a residence, which were the first to grace the site of the new town.
