Payton Ackerson, a sophomore at High Plains, was involved in an accident over the weekend and passed away.
Ackerson was a member of the volleyball team, the basketball team and the track team as well as involved in many other activities at High Plains. She is the daughter of Chad and Erin Ackerson and has two sisters.
High Plains’ activities for Tuesday evening were canceled or postponed.
