Senior Grady Belt of Shelby-Rising City achieved his 100th win over the weekend at the North Bend invitational. Grady has been involved in wrestling since preschool, coming from a wrestling family. His father and uncles wrestled, so it just came naturally.
This year he is wrestling at 145 pounds. He is currently 10-1 and is rated 2nd in Class D by the NSWCA (Nebraska Scholastic Wrestling Coaches Association).
Last year he went 39-7 and was the lone qualifier for Shelby-Rising City at the state wrestling meet. He came up short of a medal there, winning two and losing two. He hopes to qualify again this year and bring some teammates along.
It takes dedication, showing up to practice, losing and/or maintaining weight, and a solid work ethic. He works hard not only for himself, but his family, friends, the team and the school. His goal for this year is to make state and place in the top two. He enjoys wrestling for the mental and physical challenges it provides.
Congrats to Grady Belt and Good Luck to him on the rest of the season!
