One of the hardest lessons to teach kids is that they do not always get their way.My wife is not a short-order cook. The kids do not get to order breakfast off a menu. Sometimes they are not overly excited about the options in front of them.

Happy Beef Month, Nebraska!

This month, we celebrate Nebraska as the Beef State. Agriculture is the heart and soul of our state, and beef is a cornerstone. We’re recognizing the hard-working producers who make that possible. That’s why I introduced a resolution that designates May as National Beef Month.

Lessons From the Farm

When I was in junior high and high school, I worked on a couple farms. The first farm I worked at, they had me put up hay with a team. They had already started unloading bales before I got there. I was given the job on the trailer. The person I replaced disappeared into the barn.

THE DEMAND FOR ELECTRICAL POWER

The demand for computing power to run our ever-interconnected online world is rapidly growing.* So is the demand for electricity to power all of this. According to a May 2024 Electrical Power Research Institute study, data centers accounted for 11.7% of Nebraska’s total energy consumption in 2023.

Graduation & Voting (Early and Often)

I don’t have as much time this week with all that’s going on, so maybe I’ll take another break from my inspirational list. Really, if you throw all 92 graduates in, that could mean I’m almost done.We are half done with graduations in the county.

I think we can all agree that voting is important. It is the right of everyAmerican citizen of legal age to go to the polls on Election Day and cast a ballot for the candidates and issues of their choice.But today, I want to look at elections a little differently.

May is Osteoporosis Awareness & Prevention Month. Osteoporosis is a disease in which bones become fragile and more likely to break. If not prevented or if left untreated, osteoporosis can progress painlessly until a bone breaks.
