Steve Folts

Body

Steven E. Folts, 59, of Benedict, NE, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2026. He was born on December 8, 1966, in York, NE to Gary and Donna (Lytle) Folts. He grew up in Benedict alongside his brother, Scott, and graduated from Benedict High School in 1985. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Kearney State College before returning home to the family farm.

Farming was more than Steve’s livelihood; it was something he truly loved. He enjoyed everything about being in the fields, from the smell of freshly turned soil to the everyday rhythm from planting to harvesting. He found great satisfaction in the work and especially treasured the time he spent farming alongside his nephew, Michael, whom he loved like a son.

As much as Steve loved farming, nothing meant more to him than his family. On June 15, 1991, he married his high school sweetheart, Lynn Johnston. He adored Lynn and their daughter, Amanda, and his family was always at the heart of his life. He was proud to welcome Blake into the family when Amanda and Blake married. When Reese came along, Steven embraced the role of “Papa,” and being Reese’s Papa became one of the greatest joys of Steve’s life.

Away from the farm, Steve knew how to enjoy life. He loved a good rock concert and especially enjoyed planning vacations and traveling with those he loved. Whether looking forward to the next concert or mapping out the next trip, he enjoyed both the anticipation and the experience.

Steve was preceded in death by his daughter, Courtney; his sister-in-law, Kim Folts; and his grandparents.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn; his beloved daughter, Amanda Woodruff and her husband, Blake; his grandson, Reese; his parents, Gary and Donna Folts; his brother, Scott (Candy); his nephew, Michael (Cheree); his niece, Whitney Crawford (Keagan) his nephew, Hunter; and his great-nephews, Cannen, Chace, and Cutler, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins.
