While on the campaign trail in 2019, then-candidate Biden guaranteed supporters that he would “end fossil fuel.” Since taking office, President Biden and his Administration have followed through on that promise by doing everything in their power to curtail domestic energy production.

October is family history month, and I have been a genealogist for almost twenty years. My husband says it’s my “old lady meeting”. Yes, the stereotype genealogist is a lady of retirement age. Let me assure you there are young and old of both genders researching their family history.

Last week softball teams from around the state converged on Hastings for the state tournament. Polk County was represented by the Slammers and while the outcome may not have been what they were hoping for, the experience will go a long way as the team continues to improve.
