Slammers Open Season with wins

LINCOLN — The Polk County Slammers won four games in a three-day stretch to start the season, going unbeaten at the Freeman Invite in Lincoln Saturday after an opening-night win Thursday over Highway 91.

Color Run Fund-raiser for Girls’ Basketball Team Set

OSCEOLA — Ready, set, go. The Osceola girls’basketball team is making preparations for a color run in September. The 5K walk/run will take place Saturday, Sept. 24 at 8:30 a.m. Registration is from 7:30-8:15 a.m. Sign-up by Sept. 8 to guarantee a T-shirt for the event.

Slammers Ready to Hit the Diamond on Day 1

STROMSBURG — Head coach Laureen Powell watched as her Polk County Slammers made a playoff run last fall and get just one game from a berth in the Class C state softball tournament.

Teams Learn Classification

The NSAA released classifications for the 2022 Fall Season on July 20. GIRLS GOLF Shelby-Rising City will compete in Class C. SOFTBALL The Blue River softball team will participate in Class B. The team includes Shelby-Rising City athletes.

Junior SOS Rebels Fall to PWG, Wood River to End Season

SILVER CREEK — After starting off with two wins, the Shelby Osceola Stromsburg Post #91 #132 #296 Junior Legion team lost 19-8 to PWG Sunday and needed a victory over Wood River in order to stay alive in the Class C Area 5 tourney held at Silver Creek’s Ralph Jilg Field.
