No. 9 Cougars sweep Bulldogs, Mustangs

STROMSBURG — Cross County walked away with two more wins on Tuesday, defeating Osceola and McCool Junction, both in straight sets. The Class C-2 No. 9 Cougars (6-0) made quick work of the Bulldogs, 25-13, 25-5.  Earlier in the night, the Cougars easily got by the Mustangs, 25-8, 25-14.

Slammers split with Gothenburg, Kearney Catholic

GOTHENBURG — Polk County split games Tuesday, falling 13-1 to Gothenburg before bouncing back for a 10-8 come-from-behind win over Kearney Catholic. The Slammers were held to just four hits in the three-inning loss to the Swedes. Polk County batters struck out six times in the contest.

OSCEOLA — Every play matters and Osceola found that out the hard way Friday night as the Bulldogs lost in overtime to St. Francis, 38-36. The Bulldogs missed a pair of two-point conversions, the first in the fourth quarter and the second in overtime.

OSCEOLA — Osceola and Shelby-Rising City faced-off Saturday at the Osceola Invite, with the Huskies getting the better of the Bulldogs, 21-25, 25-18, 25-21. The Huskies went 2-1 on the day, getting a win over Palmer, 25-13, 25-12, before dropping 25-19, 25-21 match to Riverside.

OSCEOLA — It was another exciting game for the Osceola Lady Bulldogs when they took on the Mead Raiders at home last Thursday night. The first set was close as the score was tied several times, at five points, and again at eight points.

STROMSBURG — The Polk County offense came alive against Ord on Thursday, The Slammers (12-4) scored three runs in the first inning and added two insurance runs in the third to take control of the Chanticleers (1-9), beating them 11-3 in five innings. The Slammers slugged out 11 hits in the game.

EXETER — Osceola dropped a pair of matches Tuesday, falling to Giltner and Exeter-Milligan in straight sets. Exeter-Milligan defeated Osceola, getting the 25-17, 25-10 win. Emersyn Prososki had two kills in the loss. Rori Wieseman finished with nine digs. Giltner came out on top 25-12, 25-18.

GENOA — Polk County Slammers shut out Twin River on Tuesday, defeating the Titans 10-0 in 4 innings. The Slammers belted out 11 hits as they rode hot bats, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Polk County added three runs in the third and four runs in the fourth to close out the contest.

HUMPHREY — It did not matter what play was called; the Bulldogs were not going to be denied. Osceola (2-0) cruised to a 62-8 road win Friday night, easily defeating Humphrey / Lindsay Holy Family (1-1). The Bulldogs were dominant on offense, defense and special teams.
