Hornets, Timberwolves top Bulldogs in straight sets

EXETER — Osceola dropped a pair of matches Tuesday, falling to Giltner and Exeter-Milligan in straight sets. Exeter-Milligan defeated Osceola, getting the 25-17, 25-10 win. Emersyn Prososki had two kills in the loss. Rori Wieseman finished with nine digs. Giltner came out on top 25-12, 25-18.

Slammers Shut Out Titans

GENOA — Polk County Slammers shut out Twin River on Tuesday, defeating the Titans 10-0 in 4 innings. The Slammers belted out 11 hits as they rode hot bats, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Polk County added three runs in the third and four runs in the fourth to close out the contest.

Osceola Cruises to Easy Win

HUMPHREY — It did not matter what play was called; the Bulldogs were not going to be denied. Osceola (2-0) cruised to a 62-8 road win Friday night, easily defeating Humphrey / Lindsay Holy Family (1-1). The Bulldogs were dominant on offense, defense and special teams.

Slammers go 2-1 at Albion Invite

ALBION — The Polk County Slammers went 2-1 at the Albion Invite, defeating Pierce 3-2 Against Pierce, the Slammers managed just six hits. Pierce tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning before Polk County would score the go-ahead run in the top half of the sixth.

Slammers fall to Wildcats, 7-5

STROMSBURG — The Polk County Slammers dropped Tuesday's match-up to St. Paul Wildcats 7-5. The Slammers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning, but the Wildcats responded with a 6 run third inning to take control of the game. Junior Emma Recker went 2-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI.

Bulldogs Dominate in 62-8 Road Win

ODELL — Friday night was the Kale Gustafson Show as Osceola opened the season with a 62-8 win on the road over Diller-Odell. The junior quarterback was involved in six touchdowns on offense, throwing a touchdown pass to Matt Demers for 38 yards.

Slammers 2-1 at Wisner Invite

WISNER — The Polk County Slammers went 2-1 at the Wisner Invite over the weekend. The Slammers opened play with a 9-0 win over Logan View/ Scribner-Snyder on Saturday. Courtney Sunday scattered 4 hits across 5 innings, striking out 4 batters to get the win.

Lady Bulldogs Split First Triangular

OSCEOLA — The Lady Bulldogs opened their volleyball season hosting a triangular with Palmer and Heartland on Thursday. The first game featured the Lady Bulldogs and the Palmer Lady Tigers. Osceola won this game in two sets, 25-14 and 25-13. The next game featured Heartland and Palmer.

Kale Gustafson accounted for nearly 92 percent of the Osceola offense on Friday night in the Bulldogs 62-8 win over Diller- Odell. He rushed for 189 yards and 5 touchdowns and threw for another touchdown. The junior also finished the game with 8.5 tackles and an interception.
