Sheriff Hires New Deputy

Deputy Dwayne Harvill graduated from the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center on December 14, 2022 and began his career with the Polk County Sheriff's Office immediately following.

Auxiliary Fund Raiser Was A Huge Success!

We had a great turn out for our American Legion Auxiliary fundraiser. Twelve difference kinds of soup was served and a wide variety of delicious desserts. Thank you to all Auxiliary ladies who brought food, worked, and to our four middle school students for helping.

Shroud of Turin Displayed at St. Vincent’s

OSCEOLA — Starting Saturday a pictorial display of the Shroud of Turin, the burial cloth of Jesus along with a few replicas will be at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church in Osceola. This display will run through Feb. 26 and coincides with the Ash Wednesday service on Feb. 22.

Ambulance Fundraiser

Osceola Community Action Group

The Osceola Community Action Group will hold their kick off meeting of 2023 on Thursday, February 23rd at the Osceola Civic Center at 12:30 p.m. Business and individuals are welcome to join us for the first meeting of 2023 as we work together to improve our town Osceola.

Children’s Immunization Clinics

The Polk County Health Department will hold immunization clinics at the Polk County Health Department, Osceola, NE, on Monday, February 27, 2023, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. An appointment is required for compliance to the COVID-19 directives.

Aspects

Given recently renewed focus on the “Hwy 81 - York to Columbus” project, our time together last week involved the current 3-lane proposal for Stromsburg, Osceola and Shelby, and the controversy regarding the “roundabout” concept. However, I did not address that previously proposed expressway.
