Tooley’s Pharmacy Closing Friday

OSCEOLA — An Osceola business is closing its doors at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. When Tooley’s Osceola Pharmacy closes on Friday, it leaves behind a void bigger than an empty store front in downtown Osceola. The business was the last pharmacy in Polk County.

Here We Grow Again

STROMSBURG — The Polk County News enters 2023 and is pleased to announce its continued growth by adding two additional owners. Rick and Kimberly Holtz have joined Sparrow Publications, the parent company of the Polk County News.

Hughes Hits Ground Running

LINCOLN — The new legislative session kicked off last week and newly elected State Senator Jana Hughes is hitting the ground running. Hughes joined the other 48 senators on Wednesday, Jan. 4 for the first day of the session. The first five days saw more than 250 bills introduced.

2023 Baby Boy Born at Annie Jeffrey’s

Annie Jeffrey Health Center is pleased to welcome Thurston Lyndon Anderson as the New Year baby of 2023. Thurston was born January 6th, and is the son of Beka and Clay Anderson of Columbus, Nebraska. He will be welcomed home by brother Reuben, age 3 and sister Agnes, age 16 months.

Sheriff Deputies Receive Promotions

Two Polk County Sheriffs Deputies recently were promoted. Eric Allen (left) was promoted to Chief Deputy and Jarred Norseen was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Allen has served for 15 years and Norseen for 16 years, currently working on night shift.

Legion Auxiliary Fund-raiser Jan. 29

Join us on Sunday January 29th for our soup and dessert bar fund raiser at the American Legion Club in Osceola from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Our soup bar features 10 different kinds of soups and the dessert bar has many items to choose from. All money raised will go towards Girls State, and grave markers.
