Kick off Christmas break with the Osceola Public Library’s Story Hour! All children ages pre-K to 2nd grade are invited to an hour of stories, crafts, snacks and fun on Wednesday, December 21 at special time, 2:30! (Story Hour is being held earlier due to the 1:30 out at Osceola Pubic Schools.

Enjoy a Bowl of Soup at Legion Club

Mark your calendars. The Knights of Columbus Soup Supper is coming to the Osceola American Legion Club. The Supper is from 5-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16. There is no cost, just a free-will offering. There will be chili and chicken noodle soup served at the supper.

Santa must be making some early visits, given the AP’s reported recent unveiling of “the B-21 Raider” -- deemed “the first new American stealth bomber aircraft in more than 30 years”!

St. Paul Lutheran Christmas Program

A Christmas program titled “The Shepherd’s Story” will be presented by the young people at St. Paul Lutheran in Osceola. This will be during the 10:45 a.m. church service on Sunday, December 11th. All are welcome to come enjoy the program and stay for cookies and coffee following the program.

Student Council is Seeking Donations

The high school student council will be sponsoring a family in Polk County for the holiday season. We are asking for donations to put towards purchasing gifts for this family. Contact a student council member or Mrs. Baloun to donate!

Senior Center

Immunization Clinics Dec. 14, 19

The Polk County Health Department will hold immunization clinics at the Polk County Health Department in Osceola on Wednesday, December 14th from 1:30 to 3:30 and Monday, December 19th from 3:30 to 5:30. An appointment is required for compliance to the COVID-19 directives.

Baby, It’s Cold Outside . . .

Polk County was hit with the first true snowfall of the season this week. Tuesday morning started with a freezing rain and sleet. By mid-morning the freezing rain turned over to a blowing snow.
