OSCEOLA’S “LEANING TOWER OF WATER”

Osceola’s new water tower has been functioning now for almost a year. Now it’s time for the old standpipe one to come down. It’s an iconic piece of Osceola history, having been partially completed in 1903 and operational in 1905. It served the city well beyond its life span, over 115 years.

Smith Charged In Multiple Counties with Abuse

OSCEOLA — A Rising City man faces charges of sexually abusing his stepdaughter.Daniel Smith, 37, of Rising City, is being held at the Platte County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond in connection to charges in Polk and Lancaster counties.

OSCEOLA – On Sunday, September 22nd the Osceola United Methodist Church celebrated 150 years of ministry. Approximately 60-75 people gathered for worship that morning. Special guests present included former Pastor, Rev. Richard L. Dimond and his wife Linda, and the District Superintendent, Rev. Dr.

Osceola Kicks Off Homecoming

Osceola boys’ basketball team held their annual road rally fundraiser. Players donated $10 per car, and were given a list. They then had to take a selfie or a video with the object listed. They could go out of order but the last clue had to be last.

QUANDT WINS 1 YEAR FREE SERVICE

STROMSBURG - NNTC (Northeast Nebraska Telephone Company) out of Jackson, Nebraska held an open house at the Rose Colored Glass last Thursday to answer questions about their new service coming to Polk County.

 TWENTY YEARS AGO August 5, 2004James Naughtin and Henry Rodenburg, Osceola rural postal carriers, were recently honored for their years of service, twenty and twenty-three years respectively.Dave and Kim (Carlson) Merrill of Osceola are the parents of a daughter, Morgan Rence, born July 21st.

OSCEOLA - The Osceola First United Methodist Church will be celebrating its 150th year of ministry on Sunday, September 22nd. You are invited to come to the Fellowship Room at 9 a.m. at which time you are welcome to enjoy rolls, coffee etc. and lots of conversation.

Balloons are Bliss for Osceola Best Friends

OSCEOLA - Best friends Val Marak and Emily Carlson started balloons for their kids’ birthdays. They started playing with balloon arches and someone reached out to them for an event. That was the beginning of Balloon Bliss. The moms say they “love doing it and have so much fun doing it together”.
