Gov. Ricketts Highlights New 988 Phone Number for Suicide Prevention Lifeline

LINCOLN – This morning, Governor Pete Ricketts hosted a press conference at the State Capitol to raise awareness of the new 988 phone number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

Animal Shows, Exhibits Return to County Fair

The Polk County Fair is underway, though most of the action does not begin until next week. Three 4-H events are already in the books, as the 4-H Communications, Culinary Challenge and Horticulture Judging contests took place at the fairgrounds Wednesday.

Plenty of Entertainment, Food All Week

There is plenty to do each day at the Polk County Fair. While some people get excited to see their 4-H’er show animals, other people are more into the food and entertainment side of the fair. The United Methodist Church Food Stand is open Wednesday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday through Saturday 7 a.

Soonil Park’s journey to salvation had plenty of twists and turns — and today he serves as the pastor at Osceola and Shelby United Methodist Churches. Park was born in South Korea, son of a Korean Methodist pastor.

TEN YEARS AGO July 12, 2012 Entertainment for the Polk County Fair was announced. Included was national recording artist Susie McEntire and a local group from Omaha, Crown’s Folley. The Black Sox, sponsored by Tonniges Chevrolet, were 10 and under state champions.
