City employees may see raise

OSCEOLA — Employees for the city of Osceola could see a pay bump next year. The Osceola City Council is considering at least two different options for raises. One option would give city employees a 3 percent raise. Another option would be to bump all employees the same dollar amount per hour.

4-H’ers Get Jump on Fair

The Polk County Fair opened on Wednesday, but that does not include the multiple shows with dozens of 4-H'ers who have already participated in the Culinary Challenge, Horticulture Judging contest and Clothing Construction and Modeling Judging.  Polk County News Photos by Rick Holtz

Osceola Selects Engineer for Fox Run Project

OSCEOLA — The city of Osceola is one step closer to breaking ground on the Fox Run subdivision project. Wednesday, July 13, the Osceola City Council received presentations from two engineering firms hoping to be selected by the city.

TEN YEARS AGO July 19, 2012 Osceola Schools discussed the possibility of a 4-day school week. Currently seven schools in Nebraska operate on a 4-day school week including nearby Nebraska Christian. The Polk County Fair was set for July 25-29 with featured entertainment with Susie McEntire.

Osceola Legion Auxiliary Meets

American Legion Auxiliary Unit #91 will meet on Thursday, July 21st, at the Osceola Legion Club at 7:00 pm. We will be planning for our August 17th pie fund raiser. Diana Langer is hostess.

Osceola Community Action Group

The Osceola Community Action Group will hold their July meeting on Thursday, July 28th at Andrea’s Family Diner, formerly the Osceola Tavern, at 6:00 p.m. Membership is open to individuals and businesses interested in our community.

Osceola Farmer’s Market

Osceola’s Farmers Market will begin on Wednesday, July 13th and run from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The weekly markets will also be held on July 27th and August 3rd, 10th and 17th. If you are interested in being a vendor, please contact Debbie (John) Girard or Vicki Jones for more information.
