Six veterans were bestowed Quilts of Valor in Osceola on Friday, November 10th at the Veterans Day Service. Here we retell the stories of their service: Steve Johnson served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969. He worked as a Financial Clerk and attained the rank of E-5.

Jon Recker is the winner of week 9 missing only three games. Missing just four were Kent Fuller and Betty Shockley. The Louisville upset over Duke didn’t get many of you. People may not know Coastal Carolina as many picked Marshall. I only know Marshall from the movie.

Lavaley Named One of State’s Believers and Achievers

Each school nominates up to three or four seniors (if four, one must be a minority) for the NSAA Believers and Achievers. The student must have a 3.5 GPA and be active in NSAA activities. Along with these, school involvement and community involvement is also considered.

Nursing Homes Given an Additional Requirement

At the beginning of September, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued new staffing standards for nursing homes and long-term care (LTC) facilities. They want nursing homes to provide safe and quality care for the residents in Medicare and Medicaid-certified LTC facilities.

Thanks to the Ten Free Trees program, an effort of the Nebraska Forest Service and the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum, The Osceola Ballpark received ten trees to help replenish the many lost due to the Mountain Pine Beetle and pine wilt disease.
