Basketball Coach Removed

SHELBY — Shelby-Rising City removed their boys basketball coach from the sidelines with a week remaining in the season. Huskies boys basketball coach Jim Buswell is out as coach and is no longer employed at the district. Attempts to reach Buswell for comment were unsuccessful.

Eight out of Eleven Guaranteed a Medal

OMAHA — High Plains has three guaranteed for a medal, Cross County-Osceola has their lone wrestler getting a medal, and Shelby-Rising City has four in medal-winning position after one day of state wrestling in Omaha. Dakota Gress (G120) came in to the middle of the pack of girls.

Osceola Boys Escaped Upset by Huskies

OSCEOLA – After winning one night earlier on a shot at the buzzer, Osceola High School’s boys basketball team escaped an upset bid by visiting Shelby-Rising City as Kale Gustafson’s 25 points led the Bulldogs to a 69-60 victory over a game Huskies squad.

State Wrestling Preview

OMAHA– Ten boys and one girl are off to Omaha for state wrestling. This is the pinnacle of their career in an individual sport. For Dakota Gress, a sophomore at High Plains, she is a pioneer for girls’ wrestling. She wrestled last year as a freshman. This year she is state bound with a 28-9 record.

Ava Larmon Makes College Choice

After finishing third in the 2023 NSAA Class C discus event, Ava Larmon has committed to compete in track and field at Nebraska Wesleyan University, a NCAA Division III institution in Lincoln.
