Huskies Have Heartbreaking Loss to Scouts

SHELBY - The Huskies took on the Scouts once school reopened after the snowstorm. They had a chance but overtime did them in 66-60. The Scouts are 7-3 in Class C1 Shelby-Rising City got a great start, getting on the board first with a basket from Aiden Zimmerman and a trey from Isaac Whitmore.

YORK —The Crossroads Conference basketball tournament starts this next weekend. Polk County will be in anticipation as all four schools are in action. Can the Osceola boys repeat and the Cross County girls improve on 3rd to win? Time will tell.

LORALIE LOGAN Loralie Logan is in her first season of wrestling and placed third at both the HPC girls’ meet and the Malcolm meet. WYATT URKOSKI Wyatt Urkoski (HPC) remains undefeated this season in wrestling at 24-0.

Pinneo Leads Husky Girls to Win over Mustangs

SHELBY - Taya Pinneo led her team to a 37-28 win over Meridian at home on Saturday. After starting with a 12-6 lead in the first quarter, the second quarter wasn’t Pinneo’s best, missing two treys. The Huskies added seven points in the second to the Mustangs’ five.

Three Girls Place in Wrestling Meets

COLUMBUS - Blue River wrestled twice, at the High Plains Invite at Central Community College in Columbus, and at the Malcolm Invite. Two Shelby-Rising City girls (Turpitt and Logan) placed in Columbus and Logan also placed in Malcolm. For High Plains, Dakota Gress placed 5th in Columbus.

Husky Boys Down Meridian

SHELBY – Shelby-Rising City boys faced Meridian on Saturday. They took the lead and kept it up until the 61-38 win. The first quarter was tight for a while with a tie at eight points with just over a minute left. The Huskies put in a couple more baskets for the lead 12-8.

SRC Wrestling Goes 4-4 at Duals

DEWITT – Shelby-Rising City wrestlers participated in the Tri-County duals on Friday and Saturday. Nine teams participated. SRC wrestling went 4-4.

Husky Grapplers Win Home Tourney

SHELBY – Shelby-Rising City hosted their wrestling tournament on Saturday. Seniors Ethan Fjell and Landon Sliva were recognized before wrestling began. Coach Kuhn was recognized as the 2023 Coach of the Year. Thirteen teams competed including teams from ClassA, B, C and D.

Husky Girls May Have Found Their Third Scorer

SHELBY – With top scorers Taya Pinneo and Ava Larmon combining for 27 points per game, Shelby-Rising City has a decent 1-2 punch on offense, but finding another reliable scorer has been a year-long search thus far.
