Husky Boys Finish Third at Own Holiday Tourney

SHELBY – Thanks to a lategame basket by Isaac Whitmore, the Shelby-Rising City boys basketball team eked out a 65-63 overtime victory over Clarkson-Leigh Friday to finish third in its own holiday tourney.

Huskies Win Both Games over Storm

POLK - The Huskies got out to an early lead over the Storm, and pulled out a win 42-37. The Huskies got on the board first with a trey from Taya Pinneo and a basket from Ava Larmon.

WISNER – The Blue River Panthers wrestled in the Wisner-Pilger Invite on Friday before break. Team scores were not available. Individual results: 115: Danica Watts (SRC) pinned Chloe Boyer (Norfolk) in 1:58 and was pinned by Caidence Bethards (Norfolk) in 1:24 and Ty Gooding (Meridian) in 0:39.

Huskies & Storm Wrestle at Platteview

SPRINGFIELD - Shelby-Rising City placed third and High Plains ninth at the Platteview Invite which included several larger schools. First place went to class B Elkhorn North (135 points) and second to Class C Falls City (127 points).

Huskies Trampled by Mustangs

MCCOOL JUNCTION - All did not go as planned for the Shelby- Rising City basketball teams Friday evening against McCool Junction. The girls team lost 6240 and the boys lost by a similar margin, 52-33. GIRLS In the girls’ game, the Huskies took the lead in the first quarter, 14-9.

Both Huskies Go 1-1 on Weekend

GIRLS CEDAR BLUFFS - The Lady Huskies took a bit to get started. The Wildcats got the first basket on the board, but Taya Pinneo put in a free throw and Ava Larmon got a basket to take the slight early lead. Pinneo put in two treys before the quarter ended 9-3.

NORTH BEND - Shelby-Rising City placed second as a team, scoring 127 points behind David City Aquinas who scored 195. There were 18 boys’ teams at the meet. The Blue River girls placed second, scoring 99 behind Louisville Girls. There were 12 girls’ teams at the meet.
