Huskies use Late Run to Advance to Holiday Championship Game

SHELBY — Shelby-Rising City outscored Fullerton 13-2 in the final 2:30 of the opening round of the SRC Holiday Tournament to come away with a 64-53 victory. Fullerton tied the game at 51-all with 2:30 remaining in the game, which saw both teams swapping leads down the stretch in the fourth quarter.

Huskies Top Storm in Close One at Home

SHELBY — It was a battle for Polk County bragging rights. It started out pretty even with each team putting in a couple baskets to make it 4-4 with 5:18 on the clock for the first timeout.

SHELBY— Shelby-Rising City hosted High Plains in a county battle for the two schools on the outskirts of the county. The girls played first. The first quarter started out close, with the Storm getting seven points and the Huskies just edging them with eight.

Huskies Forming Habits for Future

SHELBY — It wasn’t the smoothest day at the office, but the Huskies are building to the future. Shelby-Rising City coach Jim Buswell said that while his team did not come away with the victory, they are putting pieces in place that help them down the road later in the season.

SRC tops Giltner, falls to Sandy Creek

SHELBY — The final score does not show how close the game actually was. Caydee Bauers Ava Larmon Four players scored in double figures, but that was not enough as Shelby-Rising City dropped their home opener to Sandy Creek, 5147. “We handled adversity,” Huskies coach Turner Trofholz said.

Huskies Bounce Back Against Titans for Win

GENOA — It was the difference of two halves. Gabe Dutton-Mofford Shelby-Rising City looked like two different teams on Saturday as the Huskies picked up their first win of the season, beating Twin River 40-29. The first half was slow and low scoring.

Huskies Too Much as SRC Earns Win

GENOA — Shelby-Rising City picked up their first win of the season on Saturday, beating Twin River 51-34. The Huskies stayed within their offense and didn’t force bad shots.
