Over four weeks in the month of June, Jaxson Grey (above), Garrett Ruth, and Keira Garcia (below) embarked on a STEM journey at Central Community College for Verizon. They were able to program rovers, work with 3-D printers, and code virtual reality.

2022 Polk County Fair

Incumbent Filing Deadline Passes for Village Elections

The deadline has come and gone for incumbents seeking to run for re-election for seats on local village boards in this year’s election cycle. Incumbent candidates had to file their intentions before the end of the business day on Friday.

TEN YEARS AGO July 19, 2012 Houston had 15” of rain. We would like 2”. The crops that are irrigated look good and farmers are working round the clock in this heat. Same for others working outside. It’s HOT! Bridge winners on Monday were Edith Alt, Rosalie Gabel and Marge Gonnerman.

The Grand Finale for the Shelby Community Library Summer Event, will be held at the Shelby Park on Saturday, July 23rd from 9 am to 12 pm. Open to all children, pre-school through 12th Grade is welcome to attend.

Booster Club Steak Fry set for Aug. 6

SHELBY — The Shelby-Rising City Booster Club Steak Fry is Saturday, Aug. 6 from 6-10 p.m. at the Shelby Legion Club. Couple tickets are $65 at the door. Individual tickets are $45 at the door. Tickets get you a steak dinner and membership to booster club.
