It’s Christmas in July at Shelby Library

SHELBY — Christmas comes early in Shelby as the library gears up for a Christmas Ornament Painting Class. Mix and match four different ornaments at the class on Saturday, July 23 at 10 a.m. The cost is just $14. Interested artists need to register by Saturday at the library.

One of the best things about living in Nebraska in the summer is visiting the county fairs. There are so many wonderful things to see and do, and so many delicious foods to smell and taste. The experiences are endless and often provide happy memories for years to come.

Ranch Rodeo Makes Debut at Polk County Fair Thursday

There will be a new grandstand event at the 2022 Polk County Fair! Kicking off the fair on Thursday will be a Ranch Rodeo! This rodeo features 4-man teams that must complete three events in less than four minutes.

President’s and deans’ lists released at Northeast Community College

NORFOLK — Northeast Community College has released the President’s Honor List and Deans’ Honor List for both full and parttime students for the Spring 2022 semester. To be named to the President’s To be named to the President’s Honor List, students must earn a grade point average of 4.

Gov. Ricketts Highlights New 988 Phone Number for Suicide Prevention Lifeline

LINCOLN – This morning, Governor Pete Ricketts hosted a press conference at the State Capitol to raise awareness of the new 988 phone number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

Animal Shows, Exhibits Return to County Fair

The Polk County Fair is underway, though most of the action does not begin until next week. Three 4-H events are already in the books, as the 4-H Communications, Culinary Challenge and Horticulture Judging contests took place at the fairgrounds Wednesday.

Plenty of Entertainment, Food All Week

There is plenty to do each day at the Polk County Fair. While some people get excited to see their 4-H’er show animals, other people are more into the food and entertainment side of the fair. The United Methodist Church Food Stand is open Wednesday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday through Saturday 7 a.

Soonil Park’s journey to salvation had plenty of twists and turns — and today he serves as the pastor at Osceola and Shelby United Methodist Churches. Park was born in South Korea, son of a Korean Methodist pastor.
