STUDENTS EXCEL AT STATE FBLA, FCCLA & SKILLS USA

Last week was a busy week for area students. Three state competitions were held: FCCLA, FBLA and Skills USA. Shelby-Rising City and Cross County participated in State FBLA. Cross County School also sent students to State FCCLA and State Skills USA.

KEARNEY - State Speech was held on Wednesday through Friday last week. Class A and B were on Wedneday with Class C on Thursday and Class D on Friday. Thursday Cross County and Shelby-Rising City competed. Cross County’s one qualifier was Ellasyn Pinkelman in humorous.

The 2024-25 cheer/dance squad was announced. Seniors will be Jordyn Donner (dance captain) and Katelyn Nekl (cheer captain). They will be joined by junior Kendall Nickolite, sophomores Olivia Frederick, Charlie Thompson and Leah Whitmore and freshmen Madison Augustin, Adelynn Favors, Ashlyn Long, Brooklyn Sumner, Vienna Thelen and Anisha Ibarra Vallejo. OSCEOLA - After having the last lesson in May of 1955, it is time for the district 37 school building to come down. The original school building was located northeast of Osceola. No information can be found on when it was built and when it was first used as a school.

Basketball Coach Removed

SHELBY — Shelby-Rising City removed their boys basketball coach from the sidelines with a week remaining in the season. Huskies boys basketball coach Jim Buswell is out as coach and is no longer employed at the district. Attempts to reach Buswell for comment were unsuccessful.

SRC Dance Team is Statebound

The SRC Dance Team will be competing at the State Dance competition Friday, February 16th in Grand Island at the Heartland Event Center. They compete in their Pom routine at 7:54 pm and their Hip-Hop routine at 9:26pm.
