The Twin River Titans came to Shelby for a faceoff against the Huskies. Shelby started out well with a bucket from Hunter White, but it was followed up with one from the Titans. The quarter continued with one more for each team, and then the Huskies got a couple free throws and two-pointers to take the lead. The quarter ended with a score of 10-4. Shelby added two more baskets in the beginning of the second quarter while Twin River missed several shots. Then the reverse happened as the Titans put in 5 unanswered points. The score at the half was 14-9.
The third quarter had less baskets with Shelby adding 7 to Twin River’s 4. The last quarter the Huskies played hard until the end adding 13 points while the Titans added 5.
High scorers were Gavin Dutton-Mofford with 22 points and Hunter White had 6. Isaac Whitmore and White each had 4 rebounds.
Coach Gabel had these comments: “Our half court press was great in this game. We were able to apply pressure and get some key steals leading us to extend and keep our lead. Again, with a thin bench we wanted to control the tempo and slow things down and execute in the half court. We did just that both offensively and defensively.”
