GRAND ISLAND- Just a handful of area athletes were on hand on Monday at Grand Island Northwest High School for the 2026 Central Nebraska Track and Field Championships.Grand Island Northwest won both the girls and boys team titles in the process.

Cross County Girls Win EMF Invite

FRIEND- The Cross County girls broke the run of two runner-up finishes in April with a win at the Exeter-Milligan/ Friend Invite held in Friend.The Cougars with 88 points held off Nebraska Lutheran (82) and McCool Junction (74) to win the invite.

Storm Hits 417 Strokes at Crooked Creek

CLAY CENTER- On the warmest day of the year to date, the High Plains Storm golf team joined the field at the Sandy Creek Invite, played at Crooked Creek Golf Course in Clay Center.The course got it’s name from Little Sandy Creek, which winds its way in and out of fairways and widen into four ponds.

FULLERTON- The Fullerton Track and Field Invite had originally been scheduled for Tuesday, April 7th, but cold temperatures along with a brisk wind postponed the invite till April 20th.Fullerton won the boys portion of the meet and the girls was won by the Osceola Bulldogs.Girls Team Scoring- 1.

OSCEOLA- The Nebraska Christian Eagles put up most of their 137 team points in just five events as they scored 18 in the 800, 14 in the 1600, 24 in the 3200, 16 in the 100 hurdles and 21 in the relays.
