Cross County boys basketball opens 2-0

SHELBY- Despite losing seven seniors to graduation, the Cross County boys basketball team got through the opening week unscathed as they posted wins over McCool Junction 58-47 and Polk County rival Shelby-RC on Friday night 55-42.

SHELBY- The Cross County Cougar girls’ basketball team opened the year with a split of their first two games.On Thursday night the McCool Junction Mustangs used a 20-5 second quarter run to open a Nice lead and held on for the 38-35 win.

Storm Girls Basketball Tops Heartland Lutheran and Fullerton

POLK - The Lady Storm started their season in the opposite direction, gaining two wins. They won over GI Lutheran 4332 and over Fullerton 36-16.Thursday the seniors were the scorers with Gahvi Lesiak having an excellent third quarter.

RAVENNA- The High Plains Storm boys wrestling traveled to the Dom Ricks Invitational in Ravenna on Friday.A total of 18 teams were in action at the meet that was won by Amherst with 191 points, second place was Burwell with 189.5 and third went to Twin Loup with 109.

POLK – It was a tough start for the boys, as they lost Thursday and Saturday to Grand Island Lutheran and Fullerton. They lost to the Lightning by just 8, and by a larger amount to the Warriors.

SHELBY-The 2024-2025 Wrestling season ended with the Shelby- RC Huskies finishing third in the Class D team race behind Burwell with 114 points, second was Central Valley with 100 and the Huskies had a total score of 94.5.
