Watts to Run Track and Field at College of St. Mary’s

SHELBY- On the first day that high school seniors could sign their college letter of intents, Shelby-RC senior Danica Watts inked with the College of St. Mary’s to become a Flames Track and Field star for the Omaha School on Wednesday, December 3.Danica plans to major in Physical Therapy.

SHELBY- It’s been since 2007 that a Shelby boys basketball team walked on the court at the Nebraska Boys State Basketball Tournament.It was 1936 when the Rising City (then Terriers) won their opening round over Atkinson, but lost to Polk 20-18 in the second round.

UTICA- The Blue River Panther’s girls wrestling team dominated the seven-team field at the Centennial Duals on opening night.Blue River went 5-0 as they defeated Sandy Creek (64-6), Centennial (60-16), Fillmore Central (66-18), Wilber-Clatonia (54-21) and Fairbury (57-22).

POLK-Nothing has changed in Polk as far as the girls wrestling team goes.The team will consists of sisters Dakota and Bailey Gress for the third consecutive year and they will be coached by Kent Franzen this season.
