Why is golf so difficult?Sometimes it amazes me how fast a golf swing can go south.There was a time, (not recently) that I played golf two to three times per week and because of the repetition you build up from swinging the club over and over I was pretty happy with how I played.

OSCEOLA- Line scores in baseball don’t always tell the whole story.Such was the case Thursday night in Osceola at Zelasney Field when the Shelby-Osceola-Stromsburg Senior Rebels hosted Louisville/ Weeping Water in their home and season opener.

OMAHA - The best of the best gathered at Burke Stadium for state track last weekend. Polk County brought home seven medals and had several just miss the medal stand.Brodey Spurling was the biggest winner, bringing home a medal in all three events he competed in.
Top: High Plains junior Brodey Spurling splashes down into the pit in the triple jump. Spurling won both the triple and the long jump on Wednesday. He also was on the Storm’s 4x100 relay which also qualified.

D-2 District produces 19 area state qualifiers

OSCEOLA - Osceola had 11 qualifiers (and two alternates) while High Plains had 8 boys qualify for state track next week in Omaha after an exciting Class D District meet in Osceola.

Area teams struggle at C-1

LINCOLN- The Class C-1 District golf meet was held at Crooked Creek Golf Club east of Lincoln on Monday.Following Sunday nights rains the course was very wet in some places and most of the bunkers looked more like water hazards.
