Why is golf so difficult?Sometimes it amazes me how fast a golf swing can go south.There was a time, (not recently) that I played golf two to three times per week and because of the repetition you build up from swinging the club over and over I was pretty happy with how I played.

OMAHA - The best of the best gathered at Burke Stadium for state track last weekend. Polk County brought home seven medals and had several just miss the medal stand.Brodey Spurling was the biggest winner, bringing home a medal in all three events he competed in.

D-2 District produces 19 area state qualifiers

OSCEOLA - Osceola had 11 qualifiers (and two alternates) while High Plains had 8 boys qualify for state track next week in Omaha after an exciting Class D District meet in Osceola.

Area teams struggle at C-1

LINCOLN- The Class C-1 District golf meet was held at Crooked Creek Golf Club east of Lincoln on Monday.Following Sunday nights rains the course was very wet in some places and most of the bunkers looked more like water hazards.

Cougars, Huskies battle loaded C-5 District field

DAVID CITY- Thursday morning the winds were howling and the dust was blowing, but the C-5 District Track and Field Meet at Memorial Field in David City went on without a hitch.

I don’t have a lot of time to spend on this week’s column as I just learned my mom was just admitted to the hospital. So here it is, short and sweet.I learned a valuable lesson this week trying to do the right thing.You see my son’s girlfriend’s car had really bad tires. I mean really bad.
