Lady Storm Secure Two Wins to Districts

POLK – High Plains hosted subdistricts, Tuesday the girls played Osceola. After they won 56-53, they hosted McCool Junction on Thursday. The Lady Storm beat McCool 46-35.HPC 56, Osc 53It was an evenly matched back and forth game. The girls played hard on both sides.

OMAHA – Nine wrestlers from SRC and HPC competed in Omaha at State Wrestling. High Plains had all three medal and placed eighth. Shelby-Rising City had four medal and placed third. Both competed in Class D.

Thelen Leads Huskies to Win over Tigers & Cougars

SHELBY– Nixon Thelen had an incredible game on Friday night, breaking the record for number of threes in a game and leading his team to an unbelievable win over a ranked East Butler team. The Huskies won in overtime 59-55.The game started evenly with each team getting on the board.

Road Win at EMF Readies Cougars for Sub+districts

FRIEND – In a battle of stateranked Class C-2 squads, Cross County took a double-digit lead in the final period and held off a late EMF rally to defeat the host Bobcats 61-55 on Friday night.Winners of 16 straight games, the Cougars (21-2) had three players score in double figures.

OMAHA – For the first time, girls wrestling had their own days for state, and were divided into two classes.Four girls from Polk County made the trip to Omaha to compete: Bailey Turpitt (senior,A105), Danica Watts (junior, A115), Bailey Gress (sophomore, B120) and Dakota Gress (junior, B125).
