COLUMBUS - Duane Stenger from Stromsburg was honored among several others at the Columbus USBC Hall of Fame and Awards banquet onApril 11, 2026.He was honored for Bowler of the Decade, 1970s, along with Marlin Reick, Sheila Backes and Ginger Moon.

OSCEOLA - Last Monday (the 13th), some politicians visited Polk County and gave their presentation on why they were running and should be elected. About 35 people were in attendance at the Osceola Civic Center.The federal candidates were first, and then state and then local/ county.

CHADRON – 25 Nebraska high school students have been selected for the Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP) at Chadron State College.

STROMSBURG - A new business, or rather collection of businesses, recently opened in Stromsburg. Saturday they had their grand opening. 304 Main Suites is home to a growing collection of small businesses.

City council met Monday, February 9th. Up for discussion was riding e-bikes, scooters and other related objects on sidewalks and streets. These are not to be ridden or parked on sidewalks in the business district. See the two new ordinances for more information.A construction update was given.
