CSC Student Pfeifly Presented Composition

CHADRON, NE — Three Chadron State College students and one alum presented at the Sigma Tau Delta High Plains Regional Virtual Conference Oct. 15. The English honor society’s event opened Oct. 14 with an address by Rock Neelly, author of The Salt Fork Stations, followed by an open mic session.

Children’s Immunization Clinics

The Polk County Health Department will hold immunization clinics at the Polk County Health Department, Osceola, NE, on Monday, February 27, 2023, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. An appointment is required for compliance to the COVID-19 directives.

CC Robotics Team Travels to Wisconsin

Cross County Robotics teams participated in two different events last week in two different states. Team 5155A, made up of Brett Williams, Dane Holtzen and Andrew Dubas, went to Green Bay, Wisconsin to compete. They went 2-0 on qualification matches for the first day.

Residents Return from Mission Trip to Togo

In January, Pastor Mike Brill, Ross Eller and RyanTwogood went to Togo, West Africa on a mission trip. Ross and Ryan stayed for one week, and Pastor Brill stayed for two. They met missionaries their church supports and see what all they did, and experienced a new culture.

Cross County FFA Participates in CDE#1

The Cross County FFA chapter participated in CDE#1 last week. Agronomy placed second and qualified for State. Those members going to state include: Lucas Jacobsen, Rafe Peterson, Koy Mentink and Tobey Waller. Floriculture placed third and also qualified for State.

Polk County Teams Travel to Speech Events

Osceola went to Schuyler and competed against 22 other teams from class B to D1. The Bulldogs held their own with Oral Interpretation of Drama placing first (out of 14). The OID team includes Creighton Sterup, Matt DeMers, Joe Meyesenburg, Bransen Lavaley and Hayden Lavaley.

There’s going to be a new addition, and we’re going to have to think of a name. That happens not only in families, but in counties such as Polk, in 1906. The Union Pacific was extending its line from Stromsburg to Central City, and there were to be two new towns and a siding along this new branch.

BREAKING RECORDS

OMAHA — A Cross County junior broke three state records over the weekend at the Creighton Prep Powerlifting meet on his way to being named the heavyweight best lifter and the 2023 RAW State Powerlifting Champion for his weight class. Izaac Dickey has been lifting weights since the sixth grade.
