Tidyman Awarded Hometown Hero

Stromsburg librarian Monica Tidyman was presented with the 2022 Hometown Hero award last Saturday. The Hometown Hero award is sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America.

Dean Wheeler of Osceola is this week’s Polk County News Football Contest winner! He only missed two entries. Runner-up also missing two was Dennis Koinzan of Stromsburg. They both missed the upset games of Texas versus Texas Tech and Oklahoma losing to Kansas State.

Gov. Pete Ricketts said Monday that Nebraskans should be required to show photographic identification before voting, even though he acknowledged there have been few cases of voter fraud in the state. “The time to try to correct your system is not after you discover there’s fraud,” he said.

TEN YEARS AGO September 20, 2012 Cross County 2012 king and queen were crowned. King was Coleman Baker and Queen Anna Kutschkau. The Fair Family from Arkansas was scheduled to perform at the Stromsburg Civic Center on Saturday October 13th at 7 p.m.
