Stangl Family to Perform Sunday on Square

STROMSBURG — The Stangl Family is coming to the Stromsburg City Square this weekend for a night of music and fun. The family will be in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday. Stromsburg Baptist Church is the sponsor of the concert. In case of rain, the concert will be at Stromsburg Baptist Church.

Enjoying a Cold Treat on a Hot Summer Day

Swede Home could have been called Sweet Home over the weekend. Anyone with a sweet tooth didn't want to miss out on National Ice Cream Day for the annual Swede Home Ice Cream Social at Calvary Lutheran Church on Sunday. Nearly 500 people attended the dessert event.

Golf for CC Booster Club

The Cross County Booster Club is gearing up for the 17th annual Golf Tournament and Fund-raiser. Two-person teams can sign-up for the July 23 scramble at Ryan Hill Country Club. The cost is $60 per person and lunch is included. Players can have a mulligan for $10 per person.

Stromsburg man sentenced on drug charges

YORK – Jory A Johnson, 37, of Stromsburg, was sentenced this week in a case where he was charged with possession of methamphetamine and failure to appear in court while out of jail on bond.

Animal Shows, Exhibits Return to County Fair

The Polk County Fair is underway, though most of the action does not begin until next week. Three 4-H events are already in the books, as the 4-H Communications, Culinary Challenge and Horticulture Judging contests took place at the fairgrounds Wednesday.
