You’re Not a Bother

Over the weekend I found out that a friend from my youth group growing up had been struggling with depression. He shared in a Facebook post how he fought the battle by himself, fell into a bottle and almost took his life last year. I nearly lost him and I never knew it. It broke my heart.

Softball and Petitions

Growing up my family lived at the softball field over the summer. My sister was an all-star in our local league and my dad coached.

Dog Days of Summer are finally here

The Dog Days of Summer are upon us. It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating Christmas, New Years and my birthday (Jan. 10 for anyone who needs another holiday to celebrate). And now we have the Fourth of July in our rearview mirror. Another year is slipping away.

Confessions of the Concession Stand

Well, last week my family was tasked with working the concession stand for Penny and Charlie playing youth baseball and softball. I will not lie, I was not looking forward to it. To be honest I was dreading it. Growing up my family was no stranger to a softball diamond over the summer.

It’s Been an Interesting Session

Hello friends! Another month is in the books and 2023 is just flying by. It feels like just yesterday that we were battling snow and ice and now we are dealing with the sun and bugs. The legislature is getting ready to wrap up its session in the coming days and it sure has been an interesting one.

Reflections on the Past Year

Time flies when you are having fun. The other day I was looking at the calendar and realized that I have been in Nebraska for a year now. The first newspaper I worked on at the PCN had state track in it. The first thing I wrote and took pictures at was the CRC-Goldenrod All-Star basketball game.

Newspapers Aren’t Dead

There is a lie that has been told in this nation for a long time. Newspapers are dead. Now, don’t get me wrong. Newspapers today are not the newspapers of yesteryear. Information happens too fast. We live in the age of technology. So what are we to do then? Here is the thing though.

It Happened

Well, it happened. I was out at a track meet last week taking pictures and someone asked me if I was the online nerd. Apparently there is someone who has similar glasses as me who goes to track meets around Nebraska and takes pictures.
