Nick Hatfield was asked to assess the needed repairs and costs of the “Save the Bandstand Project which he agreed to do. After three fourths of the money was raised, the project began with Nick overseeing the entire restoration.

REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES VISIT POLK COUNTY

OSCEOLA - Last Monday (the 13th), some politicians visited Polk County and gave their presentation on why they were running and should be elected. About 35 people were in attendance at the Osceola Civic Center.The federal candidates were first, and then state and then local/ county.

HPC Hall of Fame Inducts 2 Men & A Team

Two men and one team were inducted into the High Plains Hall of Fame on Saturday. POLK – Saturday between the girls and boys’ basketball game, High Plains honored two individuals and one team by newly inducting them into the HPC Hall of Fame.First was the 1982 Hordville football team.

CLARKS - The High Plains Elementary hosted Poetry Cafe on Thursday morning. Parents, grandparents, friends and the public were invited to come.Guests received a program when entering and were sent to a classroom.

ATV Accident Takes Life of One

ATV/Pedestrian accident 1 mile south of highway 66 on County Road C happened in Polk County on Thursday, November 6th about 5:18 pm. According to Polk County Sheriff Ladwig, the driver of the ATV was Nicholas Rodine, age 42, of Polk.

Goosen Delivers in Polk

Sydnee Goosen is the new postal clerk in Polk. She runs the Polk post office Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 1 PM and Saturdays from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM.Goosen is a graduate of Cross County High School, and a recent graduate of Arizona State University.

POLK-When High Plains first year head coach Haylee Sandman was at Wauneta-Palisade her motto was hard work and never rest on your success because someone was always out there that could take the position away from you if you didn’t continue to work hard.
