Former basketball coach out of jail on $100,000 bail

CENTRAL CITY — A former High Plains boys basketball coach is out on $100,000 bail after posting the $10,000 bond. Jonathon T. Scheerer-Hamm, 28, of Clarks, was arrested May 27 and faces 10 counts of possession of child pornography. A preliminary hearing is set for 11 a.m.
The 1993 Clarks girls track and field team were honored as they were Class D state champions then. Ten girls and three coaches were a part of that team. Four ladies were in attendance along with Coach Norm Manstedt (not pictured).

HPC HALL OF FAME INDUCTED THREE INDIVIDUALS AND ONE TEAM

POLK - Friday night in between the girls’ and boys’ basketball games against East Butler, High Plains inducted three more individuals and one team into their Hall of Fame. They included Max Kroger of Polk, the late Jerry Pollard of Clarks, and Dr. C. Richard Johnson of Hordville.

Brockevelt Wins Name a Snowplow Contest

CLARKS - Tuesday Collin Brockevelt was recognized for winning the “name a snowplow” contest. He chose the name “Snowcus Pocus” because his mom likes the movie Hocus Pocus and they have watched it quite a bit. Brockevelt is a third grader at High Plains Elementary.

HIGH PLAINS VIDEO BOARD INSTALLED

High Plains recently installed a new video board in their gym. Activities Director Greg Wood said the video board was a “dream of Cameron Hudson and Brian Tonniges. Cameron had put in a lot of the leg work previously. When Cameron’s dad passed away, it got put back on the back burner.

Four HPC FFA Members Attend Leadership Conference in DC

High Plains FFA members Allie Howell, Haden Helgoth, Rylee Hofmann and Peyton Hofmann traveled to Washington D.C. to attend the Washington Leadership Conference June 12 - 16, 2024 focusing on civic engagement, leadership and community impact.
