The Clash of the Unbeaten Cougars Decided on the Field

STROMSBURG – Would the Cross County Cougars be able to get past the one-two punch of Sandy Creek’s Ethan Shaw and Connor Rempe? That was decided on Cross County’s field to see who would move on to play Stanton in the semifinals.

Cougars Upend Perkins County; Sandy Creek Next

STROMSBURG – It took just 10 seconds for Tyler Shoup to run the 72-yards needed to complete the kickoff return touchdown that opened the second half of Cross County’s Class D-1 second-round playoff football game against visiting Perkins County.

The Cougars Win Over the Gators by 30

STROMSBURG - Cross County didn’t let last year’s loss in the first round of playoffs get them down this year. They triumphed over the Gators by 30 points. The first quarter was slow for the Cougars and not playing like they typically do. They were called for two holding penalties.

Cougars Lose to Bulldogs Again

CLARKSON - The Cougars were placed in a tough subdistrict with Clarkson-Leigh ranked first and Humphrey-Lindsay Holy Family ranked second. The Bulldogs and Cougars would meet for a third time. The Bulldogs have previously beaten the Cougars twice.

Cross County Crowned CRC Runner-Up

Coach Noyd was right. Thursday when I talked to Coach Noyd she said “absolutely” when I asked if they would meet Meridian in the championship. The Cross County Cougars defeated BDS in four sets to do their part to get to the conference championship.

Cross County Beats Turnover-Prone S-RC

STROMSBURG – With 15 seniors on its roster, Cross County’s football team had enough experience to dream about a Class D-1 state football championship, but it never hurts to have another good athlete join the fray and junior Langdon Arbuck proved that last Friday.

Football Playoff Previews

The first round of playoffs has been announced. We are pleased that ALL FOUR Polk County teams made it. The Cross County Cougars (8-0) district champions host Wisner- Pilger (5-3) in Stromsburg at 6 PM on Thursday evening. Cross County comes off an undefeated season with 15 seniors.

Cross County Loses to Meridian but Looks Forward to Rematch

DAYKIN – Cross County faced CRC top ranked Meridian on Thursday. The first set started very even, and then the Cougars started pulling ahead with four points from two Shyanne Anderson kills, a Lilly Peterson ace serve and a Meridian mistake.
