Area Wrestlers Back in Action

FREEMAN — Cross County-Osceola traveled to the Freeman Invite on Friday. Devin Nuttelman was crowned the 106-pound champion at the event. He defeated teammate Wyatt Smith in 2:24 in the final round. Nuttelman went 5-0 on the day with five pins.

No. 9 Cougars top Eagles, finish 3rd at CRC

YORK — It was the matchup fans expected to see on Friday at the Crossroads Conference Tournament. The game just tipped-off three hours earlier than anticipated. Fans would not have been surprised seeing Cross County (15-4) and Bruning-Davenport/Shickley (14-5) face-off at the CRC Tournament.

Class C-2 No. 9 Cougars fall in CRC semifinal

YORK — A big third quarter from the Mustangs was too much for the Cougars to overcome on Thursday. Class C-2 No. 9 Cross County (14-4) fell to Class D-2 No. 6 McCool Junction 39-27 in the semifinal of the Crossroads Conference Tournament on Thursday at the York City Auditorium.

Cougars advance to CRC Final

YORK — Cross County punched their ticket to the Crossroads Conference Tournament Finals with a 67-41 win over Nebraska Lutheran. The Cougars (15-2) jumped out to an early 6-0 lead as the Knights started the game cold from the field.

YORK — Ema Dickey scored 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds and Cross County forced 16 Hampton turnovers in beating the Lady Hawks 49-21 Monday at the Crossroads Conference girls basketball quarterfinals at the York City Auditorium.

Huskies See 2 Champs Crowned at David City

Justin Knoll DAVID CITY — Shelby-Rising City had two champions at the David City Invite over the weekend. The Huskies finished third with 111 points. Millard West was the top placing team with 152 points. Collin Vrbka went a perfect 5-0 on the day at 220 pounds.

Free Throws Lift No. 8 Cougars Past Scouts

STROMSBURG — Friday night would see a full crowd of Cougar fans, and they picked a good game to watch. The David City Scouts came to play, and play they did. The first quarter they outscored the home team, although Cougar Tanner Hollinger did put in the first five points of the game.

No. 8 Lady Cougars Score Back-to-Back Wins

GENOA — The Lady Cougars had a busy weekend traveling to Twin River on Thursday, and then taking on David City on Friday. Shyanne Anderson Ema Dickey The game started out pretty even with Twin River getting a basket, and the Cougars getting one from Lindee Kelley.
