SEWARD — After earning All-State honors in football at Osceola High, getting to the state individual wrestling finals in his Class C weight division, and making the state meet in the pole vault, Kyle Sterup had some choices to make as he thought of a possible college athletic career.

STROMSBURG — For many teams, making a state tourney is a matter of talent or obedience to a system. For the Cross County volleyball team, in earning the program’s third state tournament berth in school history, it was about trust in a process.

No. 7 Cougars take on Trojans on Saturday

STROMSBURG — Just four more wins. The Cougars are four wins away from hoisting a state title at Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln next weekend. The journey for a state title continues this weekend when Cross County (28-4) plays host to Wakefield (24-9) in the C2-3 District Final at 1 p.m.

No. 2 Cougars Complete Comeback, Win C2-7 Subdistrict Final

STROMSBURG — No lead was safe — not in a game, not for the set. Down in sets 2-1, No. 2 Cross County won the fourth and fifth sets to defeat No. 9 Fullerton and win the C2-7 volleyball subdistrict, 25-27, 25-14, 19-25, 25-20, 15-13. The Cougars (28-4) now advance to host a district final.
